The Indianapolis Jiu Jitsu Coach is a fantastic place for beginners to learn some Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I’m sure that it is also a great place for more experienced practitioners of the sport to come and practice, tweak their game, and roll with some good competition. The Indianapolis Jiu Jitsu gym has a great atmosphere and a mutual respect shown by all, whether you are just in town for the month or you just stepped on the mats for the first time less than a month ago.
At the Indianapolis Jiu Jitsu Coach, you will receive top-notch training from Marcello Monteiro. Many gyms across the United States and even world use his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu curriculum and promote from under his lineage, but in Indianapolis on the south east side we have the luxury of learning from him personally on a day-to-day basis. If you are interested in the sport or considering giving it a try, you can check out Marcello and his biography here.
In this article, however, I would like to recognize and appreciate my colleagues in the classes; those people are some excellent training partners. We strive to make each other better every day. The competition is friendly, though both parties are generally going hard. If someone catches you in a move or technique that you are unfamiliar with or are impressed by, it has been my experience that they will gladly show you what they did, as well as the best way to defend it next time. Everyone takes the sport and the training serious but we are all able to have a fun time with it as well.
Somehow, there always seems to be the right amount of people attending the class sessions, no matter what time or day you go. It is rarely too crowded, but there is always no shortage of training partners to roll with. Marcello pairs us off to learn during the technique period, I have always gotten along well with everyone that I have practiced moves with. Some higher belts will occasionally walk around and give some constructive criticism on the techniques, which is always appreciated. Then when sparring time comes you will get a chance to practice your skills and improve with 2, 3, or even 4 different people during some sessions, as Marcello calls time on the matches and switches up partners. Each different person you are paired with is a different size and strength than the last, has a different level of experience in the sport, and has different strengths and weaknesses in their game. Even two people who started on the same day and came the same nights for a month will have progressed in the sport differently based on the situations they have personally been in during sparring time. At BJJ Coach in Indianapolis, we embrace those differences, as it allows us to always be learning something new every day and always improve our game. If you are in Indianapolis and you want to learn from one of the greats and practice with a diverse community of winners you should come check out the BJJ Coach Academy. We are always looking to build the team and add new training partners to our sparring sessions.
